Jul 21 2019 - Custer State Park - Bison and Burrows

It cost $20 for a 7 day pass or $30 for an annual State pass. We saw Bison on the road which was two different herds. Saw some deer and Burrows who were begging for food.
The Custer State Park in South Dakota has what they call "Buffalo Roundups" and sell Bison as a way to rise money for the park. Some people buy them to raise on their farms but the other sell Bison Burgers.

Checkout the prarie dogs. They jump up or just stand there while riding by them.

We saw this one lonely Bison on our way into the park. He is a big fellow.

I do not know what kind of deer these are but they are pretty.

Bison own the road when they want it.

Some of the males are at or more than 2,000 lbs.

We had to squeeze around this guy, he liked watching cars go by.

This is right out Susan's window.

This is the first herd we rode by which is about 70-80 head of Bison.

This is the second herd which is closer to 100 head of Bison.

That's a big one.

This dude was walking down the rod smiling as he held up traffic. the girl is not in danger because she crawls in and out the window for safety.

The burrows are a mile or two down the road from the Bison but they beg and people feed them. Unlike feeding a bear they are not going to be too dangerous to people.
I remember the saying "a fed bear is a dead bear" so we don't feed any animals except flies.

Always there is a fight going on amongst burrows.

We stopped at this visitor center. Not much here except four "Vault Toilets" that are well used.

Took a ride out thru another part of the park.

Look closely as you may see a single deer.

This is a second visitor center on the other side of the park. Did not stop here.

Beautiful lake for people to enjoy free of charge.

This bridge is coming up in another picture but made a big lake for motorized boats.

Nice wooden bridge.

A stockade but we did not stop there.
